the United Arab Emirates both the groom and the
bride must undergo a series of elaborate preparations
prior to their wedding, especially the bride.
First, she is anointed with oils. Then, a few
days before the wedding--in a ceremony called
Laylat Al Henna--her hands and feet are decorated
with ornate henna designs...

is fed the finest foods and given the best gifts. Unfortunately,
she is also kept out of the public eye for forty days before
the actual wedding ceremony. For those forty days she is little
more than a bird in a gilded cage. |

The
festivities begin a week before the actual ceremony. When
the wedding day arrives the bride's eyes are outlined in the
Arabian Kohl so famous among Arab women for enlarging their
already beautiful eyes. During
the lavish wedding and the reception celebrations, the men
are separated from the women, and the segregated sexes have
their own boisterous parties--odd by Western standards, but
it doesn't stop anybody from having fun.

| งานเลี้ยงฉลองจะดำเนินก่อนงานแต่งงานจริง
เป็นเวลา 1 สัปดาห์ เมื่อวันแต่งงานมาถึง ดวงตาของเจ้าสาวจะถูกแต่งแต้ม
