Well,
they finally did it.
After months of rumors and denials, glittery Hollywood cuties
Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston finally swapped vows in a pricey
seaside ceremony Saturday.
The
bride had grandly announced she wanted it to be the wedding
"all of Hollywood never forgets". It turned out to be the
wedding most of Hollywood never saw - a military-style exclusion
zone kept onlookers at bay as Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston
finally married.
Keen
to keep the event free from paparazzi, distraught female fans
and celebrity spotters, their publicist denied they were marrying
until Thursday. Even then few details were offered.
Despite
their efforts for privacy, helicopters flew through the restricted
airspace with cameramen hanging on harnesses. Part of the
$175,000 security bill included a Los Angeles Police Department
helicopter to keep aerial intruders away. A spokesman for
the LAPD said: "We would have been there anyway just to make
sure there wasn't a crash. There were so many helicopters
and we are not a million miles from commercial flight paths.
We were also concerned that someone would try to parachute
in."
As
Pitt, 36, and Aniston, 31, were wed beneath a tree on the
beachside estate of television executive Marcy Carsey, they
were watched by a who's who of Hollywood celebrities, including
Courtney Cox-Arquette - with her husband, actor David Arquette
- Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer and Lisa Kudrow, who star
alongside her in the television show Friends. However, there
was no sign of Matt Le Blanc. On Pitt's side were co-stars
from his films, Sir Anthony Hopkins and Morgan Freeman, and
other actors including Cameron Diaz, David Spade, Ed Norton
and Selma Hayek.
For
those keeping score at home, Aniston, 31, wore a floor-length
white satin silk gown designed by Lawrence Steele, along with
custom ivory-colored, suede high-heel sandals by shoemaker
Manolo Blahnik. Pitt, 36, was wrapped in a black Hedi Slimane
tux. After exchanging vows, they exchanged their fashionably-millennium
white gold wedding rings.
